A Christmas Story

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
All the cousins were laughing and running about.
The stockings were set by the hot fireplace

And I got Jello jigglers all over my face!

At 8 am mom awoke with a gasp,
cause I had slept in past 7 at last!
Then downstairs we flew to see all the clamor
A grin crossed my face when I saw Santa's letter.

"Merry Christmas!" It said, and "thanks for the snack!"
I wondered why he'd already left to go back.

But presents and wrapping and goodies galore,

I played and I laughed till there was nothing more.

Then I donned my new jammies
and drew dad a picture

And while he made breakfast,
I snacked just a little :)

Oh the dishes got done around eleven o' clock
and a nap did I have for just a short spot,
cause of course there was merriement still to be had
with more friends and family and packing 'fore bed.

Oh Santa, dear Santa, I'll love you forever
Don't forget me next year cause I'm bound to get better!
Love, Avery
